30th Port Huron to Mackinac Island Solo Challenge
12th Chicago to Mackinac Island Solo Challenge
The 2008 Mac Solo Challenge Documents are now available for downloading to your computer. This will be a Super Mac Year which will feature an entirely new Challenge, the Super Mac and Back! You may start any of the Challenges in either Chicago or Port Huron - check the Notice of Race for all the details! At just under 1,200 statute miles, the Super Mac and Back is by far the longest freshwater sailing race in the world!

Non-member skippers who successfully complete either of the Mackinac Solo Challenges, and have their finish approved by the Board of Directors will be granted membership in the GLSS. Both the Port Huron and Chicago starts are on the same day, with all successful sailors finishing at Mackinac Island for the awards luncheon, held on Wednesday following the starts at the Mackinac Island Yacht Club.

Second Lake Erie Solo Challenge
The 2008 Lake Erie Solo Challenge Documents are now available for downloading! Additionally, feel free to check out and print a copy of the 2008 Lake Erie Solo Challenger Flyer for posting!
Non-member skippers who successfully complete the Lake Erie Solo Challenge, and have their finish approved by the Board of Directors will be granted membership in the GLSS.

Lake Michigan Solo Scramble
The 2007 Lake Michigan Solo Scramble Documents are posted for informational purposes only. A link will be posted to the 2008 forms when they are available.
Concurrent starts Friday afternoon from Holland and Racine with the fleets proceeding to the mid-lake weather buoy 45007, and thence to a finish at Michigan City. A BBQ will follow Saturday evening at the Michigan City Yacht Club for racers and guests.

Lower Lake Huron Solo
The 2007 Lower Huron Solo Documents are posted for informational purposes only. A link will be posted to the 2008 forms when they are available.
This is a 42nm race with a Canadian flair, as the start/finish are just off of Sarnia, Ontario. Following the race, there will be a BBQ and Awards Ceremony at the Sarnia Yacht Club.

St. Clair Solo & Big Al's Steak Roast

In conjunction with the St. Clair Solo, GLSS sponsors the annual Big Al's Steak Roast. The Steak Roast will be held at Great Lakes Yacht Club. Even if you are not participating in the St. Clair Solo, come on out and enjoy an excellent meal and the great camaraderie of fellow solo sailors in the season finale of scheduled GLSS events!

Chicago Open House - Chicago Yacht Club
The Chicago Open House features presentations conducted by GLSS members on many aspects of singlehanded sailing, and hands-on demonstrations of emergency procedures such a firing flares. There will be a cash bar and light appetizers served.

Detroit Area Open House
The Detroit Open House affords an excellent opportunity for "right coast" skippers who would like more information on the sport of solo sailing. GLSS members cover the aspects and techniques used in singlehanded sailing, and whether you're brand new to the sport, or an old salt, you'll walk away with some new information.

The 2007 Trans-Superior Solo Challenge Documents are posted for informational purposes only.
Non-member skippers who successfully complete the Sault Ste. Marie to Duluth Solo Challenge, and have their finish approved by the Board of Directors will be granted membership in the GLSS. In terms of length, this race ranks behind only the GLSS Super Macs as the longest freshwater singlehanded race in the world!
