2010 Lake Superior SOLO SCRAMBLE

The Lake Superior Solo Scramble is sponsored by the Great Lakes Singlehanded Society to encourage the excitement and adventure of solo racing with others who enjoy the challenge, camaraderie, and special sense of accomplishment inherent in singlehanding port-to-port.

Participants in the 2010 Solo Scramble will choose from two starting locations: Superior WI, or Bayfield WI. The 100 mile event will finish in Silver Bay Minnesota. Event fees will cover Dockage at the Silver Bay Marina. There will be a social event including a cookout and awards presentation at the marina following the event.

Skippers who wish to participate should fill out the online entry form.

TWO STARTS

Skippers may choose to start at either Bayfield Wisconsin or Superior Wisconsin. The start time is 1700 (5 PM CDT) from either location.

The required equipment list for this event is available online.

COURSE

The solo scramble is a 100 nautical mile course rounding a GPS waypoint to port and then proceeding to Silver Bay Minnesota. There will be a waypoint for each start location to create a 100 mile course for each start group. The two courses finish along the same line of latitude.

Superior Wisconsin: From Superior Entry Breakwater to 47 15.0 N, 90 30.0 W, to Silver Bay Minnesota

Bayfield Wisconsin: From The Bayfield City Dock Breakwater to 47 15.0 N, 89 55.0 W, to Silver Bay Minnesota

ENTRIES

Interested skippers are directed to the online entry form. Payment of race fees is handled by the GLSS through PayPal.

DOCKAGE and POST EVENT PARTY

Event fees cover dockage for participants at the Silver Bay Marina, a beautiful newer facility on the north shore of Minnesota.

There will be a post event party with a cookout and awards presentation at the marina.

SKIPPER'S MEETING

There will be a skipper's meeting at 2:00 PM CDT at each starting location.

The Superior WI skipper's meeting will be held at the Barker's Island Marina clubhouse.

The Bayfield WI skipper's meeting will be held at a location to be determined near the Bayfield city docks.

Attendance at the skipper's meeting is mandatory. Details about the event, including precise starting locations and times, course details and other important information will be provided at the meeting.
