2000 St. Clair Solo
Report

The wind and sun gods shined on September 30 th for this years St. Clair Solo. We simply couldn't have asked for a better day on Lake St. Clair, with all competitors finishing by late afternoon.

As in many previous years races we started downwind to R-14 followed by a freshening spinnaker reach ( for those who dared or could hold it ) to the Thames River Light. A gybe at the Thames followed by a white sail reach to R-28 saw all 28 starters finish by 17:00 hours.

For those who sacrificed lunch on the lake for racing, we were tastily rewarded at "Big Al's" Steak Roast. As usual Al outdid himself with steaks weighting in between 18 and 24 onces. All you can eat, was certainly the understatement of the day.

Flags were awarded to placing competitors in 3 JAM, 3 PHRF and 1 Multihull division later Saturday evening ( for complete results and finishers see St. Clair Solo Results)

As always, many THANK YOU'S are due....................................

  1. Crescent Sail Club and the Start Committee

  2. Northstar Sail Club and the Finish Committee

  3. Al Merrithew and his band of Chefs

And thank you to 28 solo sailors who enjoyed a perfect day racing around Lake St. Clair

Vice-President & Race Chairman
